COCKTAIL & SOFT COCKTAIL COMPETITION
RULES
Please make sure to read the rules in full before registering.
ARTICLE 1 - ORGANISER
The competition is organised by the company SVS La Martiniquaise (hereinafter referred to as "The Organiser"), registered in the CRETEIL Trade and Companies Register under number 632 003 877 and whose registered office is located at 18 rue de l'Entrepôt - 94220 Charenton-le-Pont. This competition is free of charge.
ARTICLE 2 - PARTICIPANTS - ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Participants in the competition must be over 18 years of age and in the legal drinking age in their country. THE BARTENDERS SOCIETY competition is only open to professional or trainee bartenders. Only one entry per person is allowed. The seven winners of the previous editions are not allowed to re-enter. Employees and service providers of the SVS La Martiniquaise Group are not allowed to participate. This exclusion also extends to the families of the Organiser's staff. In general, any person directly or indirectly involved in the implementation of this competition is excluded from this right to participate.
The Organiser reserves the right to carry out any verification for the application of this article.
Participation in this competition implies unreserved acceptance of the rules in their entirety. as Organiser shall have the final say on any disputed case or difficulty of interpretation.
ARTICLE 3 - PRINCIPLE
The Bartenders Society is an international competition where candidates from 18 countries compete to be voted the best bartender.
The competition takes place in several stages:
1- REGISTRATION IN THE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES: Between 1er January and 30 June 2023*
2- NATIONAL FINALS IN THE PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES : May-September 2023*
3- INTERNATIONAL FINAL IN FRANCE : Mid-September 2023* in Paris

ARTICLE 4 - THEME
Theme 2023: "BRING A LOCAL TWIST TO A CLASSIC COCKTAIL FROM THE PAST"
Each candidate must propose a cocktail recipe.
He/she will have to revisit each time a so-called classic cocktail and twist it by integrating a local dimension.
(It can be a classic cocktail from the so-called “prohibition period” and before till a modern classic from the 80-2000’s/.)
The candidate will have to explain which classic cocktails he has chosen to rework, and for each recipe which local element(s) he has chosen to integrate and why.
The local touch in cocktails can be expressed, for example, by :
- A choice of local ingredients
- A traditional local method of production
- A visual or tasting method linked to the origin of the candidate
ARTICLE 5 - REGISTRATION
In order to participate, it is necessary that the applicant accepts the rules and the waiver and assignment of intellectual property rights. Without this, the registration cannot be validated.
TIMING
Registration will be open in countries in link with the distributor of St James and/or Marie Brizard. Please contact the local distributor for more information.
THEME 2023
For the local finals, each candidate will have to propose 1 cocktails recipe inspired by the theme: "BRING A LOCAL TWIST TO A CLASSIC COCKTAIL FROM THE PAST" (see article 4).
INSTRUCTIONS
Each candidate must also use products from each of the competition's partner brands: Marie Brizard and Saint James.
The candidate can use any product from the range.
Minimum uses:
Cocktail with alcohol: 30ml Saint James rhum + 20ml Marie Brizard liqueur/ cream/ sirup
Please note:
Cocktails that include "homemade" ingredients are allowed if a complete recipe is provided at the time of registration.
The name of the reference used must be clearly specified in the recipe proposed by the participant, as well as the centilitre. Examples: 40cml of Saint James Blanc 55°, 30ml of Marie Brizard Anisette liqueur.
In France The applicant must accompany each recipe with:
a written description explaining its inspiration and link to the theme
a photograph highlighting each creation in a high quality environment (between 1 and 5 Mb per photo)*.
a personal portrait quality photograph (between 1 and 2 Mb). (used for the presentation of the finalists on The Bartenders Society social networks)

ARTICLE 6 - SELECTION OF FINALISTS
The evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
20%: Respect for the theme: THE PAST
20%: Taste, balance and creativity
15%: Storytelling, recipe presentation
20%: promotion of the Saint James and Marie Brizard brands
15% : Cocktail visual
10%: respect of timing
ARTICLE 7 - LIVING EXPENSES
During the France 2023 final, the organising company will organise and pay for :
Meals (from Monday noon to Wednesday morning). The applicant must inform the Organiser of any food intolerances/allergies
Hotel nights (Monday to Wednesday)
Any extra people and/or extras will be charged to the candidates.
ARTICLE 8 - NATIONAL FINALS
Each participating country will organise a local final. Details of the national finals (outside mainland France) will be announced by the local organisers.
ARTICLE 9 : INTERNATIONAL FINAL IN PARIS
The Bartenders Society 2023 International Final will be held in Paris - mid-September 2023.
The instructions for the international final will be kept secret until the very last moment.
There is no need to prepare before, this is an improvisation exercise.
The candidate will have to create two drinks for the international final.
One with alcohol
One without alcohol or with a low ABV including 30ml of a juice from the brand Caraibos, all the Caraibos juice will be available in Paris.
The organizer will not send Caraibos juice outside of France.
The candidates will not present their winning cocktail from the national’s finals.
It will be a brand-new competition in Paris!
It will bring together the champions of the 18 participating countries:

*The list of countries may be subject to change.
The place and date of the final and the details of the events will be communicated later.
At the end of the international final, the following prizes will be awarded:
Prize 1ère place: 2000€ + a trip for two to Martinique
Prize 2nde place: exclusive bottles
Prize 3ème place: exclusive bottles
Jury's Favourite Award: exclusive bottles
The recipes of the three winners will be shared with journalists. Their recipes and the visuals of their creations may be used for editorial purposes.
ARTICLE 10 - WAIVER OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
DISCLAIMER AND ASSIGNMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS to SVS LA MARTINIQUAISE
All recipes, names and photographs of the cocktails and soft cocktails made by the candidates in the context of the competition remain the property of the organiser.
"I understand that all photographs of the cocktails I enter in the competition, the portrait, the signature, the recipe and the sources of inspiration may be used by the Organiser to produce its creative material and that they may also be used in targeted media for marketing purposes, all without my prior consent. This agreement is valid for all media, for the whole world and for the duration of the intellectual property rights. I hereby waive any rights I may have."
ARTICLE 11 - PERSONAL DATA
By agreeing to the rules of the contest, the participant agrees that SVS La Martiniquaise, as the controller, has access to his data to take into account his participation. These personal data will be used exclusively by SVS La Martiniquaise for the processing and management of this contest and will be.
